you are a true master. It's so fascinating to see how the building emerges from a few supposedly simple dabs of color. I admire your looseness and your trust in the color to do its job. The seemingly fearless use of various tools (fork, pens ..) .....and in the end the house appears. Full of character, life and joy. Great.
Thanks for sharing ....and good to read, that the Ellison Building will be coserved.
The moment I loved best was when you drew a thin, violet-blue shadow down the pipe on the left side of the building). The immediate change was almost magic!
Thanks for sharing Paul! So cool how art can bring out the beauty in a building‘a wear and tear. The painting comparison is thought provoking and insightful- learned something new today!
I have a paper question Paul. Are you aware of any less expensive alternative papers to the 100 percent cotton Fabriano HP paper you seem to really enjoy to use if someone wants to experiment with and try to emulate your style? I was thinking that maybe a cheaper mixed media non-100-percent cotton smooth paper might behave kind of the same? Many thanks!
Hi Nathan, the choice of paper is always a tricky one. There are actually many 100% cotton paper brands that are quite affordable. You may consider brands like Etchr and Bao Hong. I like experimenting with Moleskine watercolour sketchbook too. Best to test as many type of paper to find what work best for you.
